Are you on
fashion?
Sometimes we ask ourselves if
we are on fashion, and that made me think how fashion has changed
through the decades, so I decided to write this funny article.
1950s
We
may remember this decade fr the curly hair and the `super red lips`.
Women tended to curl their hair... well, maybe too much...
They used to wear skirts and
very tall high heels. They wore dresses with floral patterns. A very famous fashion icon from this decade is Mrilyn Monroe.
1960s
Let's
say it was the "hippie decade". It is the decade we all make fun of.
They used to wear very funky patterns and bright colours, like electric
blue, hot pink and bright yellow and green. Dresses were shorter, and
they used to wear them with high heels. High heels were extremely
clourful. Shoes had three or four different colours, and straps and
buckles
were on fashion. But and icon of this decade was the miniskirt.
The
hair was still very short and curly. But the make-up changed. Women
started to call the attention in their eyes instead of the red lips.
They wore thick eyelashes and black
eyeshadow.
1970s
The
disco decade! We can identify this decade for the skin tight jeans that
then became loose at the knee down, and were horribly high waisted.
Colours were bright, but not as bright as in the 60s.
Hair was still
curly, and women started wearing hairspray. The make-up was... crazy!
They wore really colourful eyeshadow. Like pink and blue.
Another thing that can call our attention from this decade are the super high heels, they were ridiculously tall.
1980s
The
rocker decade! An example of how crazy the trend in this decade was is
Cindy Lauper. People wore skin tight pants with simple T-shirts. One of
the things that became famous in this decade were the `Converse`,
since everyone wore them. Another thing that was on fashion, and I still can't
uderstand, were socks and sandals. The motto that identifies this
decade was 'Daring to be different'. Everyone wore black leather
jackets, Converse that went all the way up to the knees. And girls
started wearing leather mini-skirts or tube skirts.
And guess how the
hair was... yes, of course, still big and very spraied. And make-up was
extremely colourful! They wore the craziest shadows you can imagine.
Women, and even men, dyed their hair in so many different
colours. Lipsticks were any colours, brown,
pink, red, black, whatever you wanted.
1990s
In
this decade everything looked more natural. People stoppped wearing
bright colours, instead they wore olive green and neon colours.
Sneakers were fashionable. Women wore jeans, leggings and sweatshirts with pastel colours.
The
hairstyles were not very curly anymore. And something very important
happened... they started wearing the hair straightener! Luckily!
The make-up was very natural. Women wore light and natural eyeshadows with gloss.
2000s
The
2000's was a very changing decade, when many styles were in fashion. In
the early 2000s, women wore shoes and boots with flat toes. They
wearing a more
femenine style with mini-skirts and flared trousers. Flip-floops became
an icon of this time as well.
In the late 2000's the skinny jeans
appear again, leggings and knee-high boots. And the military style was
in fashion, like peacoats, trenchcoats and tunics. And capri pants were
fashionable too.
Later appeared the `hippie-chick` style or `vintage`style inspired in hippie and boho trends. And for the hair, as in clothes, many styles were common, weavy hair, straight, curly, short styles, anything. As you can see, this was a very changing decade...
What decade defines you best in terms of fashion trends?
