Schools in Argentina (by Ailén & Ruth)

Schools in Argentina are different from those of other countries. Here we have public and private schools.

The main differences are that private schools are expensive and their students have to wear uniforms. Girls usually have to wear a ponytail and can´t have their nails coloured. On the other hand, in most public schools pupils must wear white pinafores and education is free.  
In both types, there are preschools for toddlers and children under 6. They play and learn all the day. Then, we have primary and secondary schools.
Primary schools are for children aged from 6 up to 11 or 12 years old. During this time, children learn Maths, Science and Language among other subjects with different teachers for the special ones like Gym and Arts.
On secondary schools, everything is different. The lessons are more difficult than in the previous levels. They are made up of 6 years. There are more subjects with different professors and you have to study more and harder if you want to pass exams so that you don´t repeat the year.

Teenage: An age of problems, fun, and change

Youth is an important stage in a person's life. With it comes freedom, fun, but also problems and responsibilities.

There are several advantages about being a teenager. Firstly, you have more freedom, you can manage yourself. For example, if you go out with friends, you can be walking alone. Secondly, you can manage your own money. For example when you go and buy something with your own money. Finally, you can take your own decisions, like the clothes you wear, your group of friends, or personal decisions.

However, there are many negative aspects about being a teenager. Firstly, you have more responsibilities like arrive safe at home or picking up your younger brother from different places. Secondly, sometimes you feel like nobody understands you and because of that you feel alone or sad and you care more about what the others say or think about you, than about your own opinion.

But perhaps the biggest disadvantage is that you constantly argue with your parents, because you want to have more freedom and they think in a different way, so you become angry and everything is a mess.

As a conclusion we can say that although youth is an age of problems and changes, it can also be a stage to enjoy the most and do things you would never do again when you grow up.

A blind date is a kind of date in which two people meet on a place without having met each other previously. In general they are organized by friends or parents from one or both parts. They can be organized by dating systems, as well.

Blind dates are considered by psychologists like one of the most stressing emotional experiences. This is because there is a high lost of self-confidence from both parts and the unavoidable fear to the unknown.

These types of dates are coming more and more popular with the Internet, because people meet through chat, and instant messaging, and finally they decide to meet each other in person to have the opportunity to talk and know more about each other. However, this date might not be considered a blind one, because people have previously talked. The same happens with social networks like Facebook, which are not anymore a blind date because people are used to uploading pictures about themselves.

Rules to follow on a blind date:

1)      Common sense

2)      Stay on a public site with people

3)      If possible 4 people must go. The ones of the date and a friend of each other.

4)   On the date, ask everything about the other person's life, since its about knowing who the other person is.

5)      Don’t wait for your dream boy or girl. Go with the idea to hang out and spend some time.

6)      Give some time to the date... it's complicated for both.

7)      If you are not interested in the other person, cut it down.

8)      Sincerity is the best and it can laze the situation.

So, if you want to meet someone you don’t know and try a new experience, you should have a BLIND DATE!

Have you ever wondered about the origin of your favorite song? 

Billie Joe Armstrong was born on February 17, 1972. He is an American rock musician and occasional actor, best known as the lead vocalist, main songwriter and lead guitarist for the punk rock band, Green Day.

Billie was born in Piedmont, California, a small town surrounded by the city of Oakland, and was rised in Rodeo. His father, Andy Armstrong, died of cancer, in September, when Billie was 10 years old. He got depressed and spent weeks in his bedroom. When his mother noticed he had a problem, she went to talk with him. When she tried to convince him to go out, he denied and answered: “Leave me alone and wake me up when September ends”. That’s the origin of the famous song called “Wake Me Up When September Ends”.

Electronic music is a popular type of music anong teenagers because it is good to dance. This type of music was created in the 21 st century and doesn´t use guitars or drums but special electronic instruments and sometimes a computer. This technological music is very popular in discos, birthdays and gyms. Some artists, like David Gueta and some people that like this music, create it themselves and then record CDs.

The rugby championship is an annual competition among South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and Argentina.  The competition is organized by Sanzar, a consortium formed by the Australian Rugby Union, the South African Rugby Union and the New Zealand Rugby Union. 

The order of fixtures has changed several times in the history of the series. In the past, each team played the others twice. After some tweaking of the schedule, it was decided to start the series with two fixtures in either South Africa or New Zealand and move the series to the country that did not host the opening rounds. Under this setup Australia's home fixtures were always the middle two in the series.

The recent reworking of the calendar took effect with the 2006 event. This was the result of a new television deal between Sanzar and broadcasters in the United Kingdom and the Sanzar countries. Each team plays the other three times. In 2006 the series opened in New Zealand and the first four rounds alternated between New Zealand and Australia. The fifth round was in Australia. After a one-week break the series returned to New Zealand and then finished with South Africa's three home fixtures. Each team has two home fixtures against one team and only one home fixture against the other.

The competition begins in July. Originally it had started late in July but, with the expansion of the series, the start date has moved to early in the month. It typically ends early in September. The Tri Nations opens after the completion of the Super Rugby competition for the year because players from the Sanzar countries are involved in both.

The winner is determined by a points system:

• 4 points for a win
• 2 points for a draw
• 0 points for a loss

I think Argentina will not win the rugby championship because Argentinian rugby has not as much competition as New Zealand, Australian or South African rugby but, in a few years, Argentina could be as good as New Zealand'a or the other teams'.

The Best Concert Ever (by Agustina Toscano)

That day I was quite anxious. I was expecting the moment my sister would tell me ‘Let’s go’, so there I was sitting in my bed trying to know what I was going to wear. I decided to wear jeans and a T-shirt so at 1:00 p.m. my sister came and I was with a smile on my face for an hour and a half until we got to ‘Estadio Unico de La Plata’. 

The concert started at 9:30 so I sat since 3 on the field in the middle of the sun. I wanted to buy a T-shirt of this band but there weren’t any left. I was really bored but then...the lights of the stage were switched on and the ‘CLAW’ (as they call it) was awesome...

First, a band called "Muse" opened the show and then appeared that fantastic clock. When the countdown got to zero, Bono appeared and I burst into shouts and laughs and I couldn't believe the 360° screen, which was wonderful. 

It was the best concert ever. In a moment it started raining and the instruments got their own umbrellas so they continued the show. That was the best. I wouldn’t miss it if they come again! Would you?
